URBANA-Luella Bearman, 69, of Urbana, passed away 12:55am on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Carle Hospital in Urbana. Luella was born on June 7, 1944 in Mandan, North Dakota, the daughter of Joseph and Katie Volk Ressler. Surviving are her 3 children, Jeffrey Bearman of Urbana, Scott (Shannon) Bearman of TX, and Karen Shreves of Rantoul; four brothers, George, Emanuel, Ray, and Billy Ressler; five sisters, Sally Hutton, Marlene Kraft, Alvina Sakoff, Glorine Barnhardt, and Mary Renz; six grandchildren, Ryan Mennenga, Shantel Santellana, Travis Bearman, Austin Shreves, Breanna Bearman, and Taylor Loyd; and five great-grandchildren, Trever Santellana, Hunter Santellana, Summer Santellana, Addison Sims, and Koby Mennenga. Proceeding her in death are her parents, and three brothers, Eddy, Leo and Teddy Ressler. Luella graduated from Capital Commercial College in Bismarck, North Dakota. She worked for, and later retired from the University of Illinois Departments of Bio-Chemistry, where she worked as the office secretary. Gardening, playing bingo, having lunch with friends, and visiting with family are just a few of the things Luella enjoyed doing. She loved to take trips to the Casino where she loved playing the slot machines, and especially Triple 7’s. Her banana bread, lasagna, and love for coffee are a few things she was known for. Luella will be most remembered for her loyal, loving, trusting, confident, and sincere nature. She was always organized, tidy and meticulous, which she passed along to her three children. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Homes, Champaign-Urbana Chapel, 710 North Neil Street, Champaign. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 am on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 708 West Main St., Urbana, with Fr. Joseph T. Hogan officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Champaign. Luella’s family would like to offer a special thanks to her primary care physicians, Dr. Vasireddy, Dr. Stanic, and Dr. Sapiente. As well as everyone who cared for Luella on the Parkview 3 Oncology Unit. Memorial contributions may be made in Luella’s honor to the Carle Cancer Center for Cancer Research.
