Danville – Ralph J. Rhoades, 94, of Danville passed away at 2:25 AM on Friday, June 6, 2014 at the Quincy Veteran’s Home in Quincy, IL. He was born on January 3, 1920 in Cainsville, MO. He married Gloria Lockwood on June 23, 1982 in Danville. She preceded him in death on October 12, 2009. He is survived by a son, Kenneth Rhoades; two step-daughters, Elizabeth (Larry) Rodgers of Ashland City, TN and Jacquie (Richard) Prevette of Savoy; a step-son, James Lockwood of Danville; four grandchildren, Heather (Sean) Senteney, Elizabeth Stennett, Chelsea (Jerod) Kizer, and David (Cassie) Rodgers; and many great-grandchildren. Ralph worked as a chemist for Illinois Power (Ameren) and E.I. DuPont. He served his country proudly during WWII by enlisting in the Army as an MP. He was also a member of the Rotary Club. A graveside service to celebrate the life of Ralph Rhoades will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at Danville National Cemetery in Danville. Military Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #210. Sunset Funeral Home and Cremation Center, A Life Celebration Home in Danville is in charge of arrangements.
