Covington, IN- Curtis “Curt” N. Massey, 60, of Covington passed away at 9:47 PM on Thursday, August 7, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on September 13, 1953 in Danville, IL, the son of John William and Jo Ann Henry Massey. He married Linda D. Jones on September 8, 1972 at the Benson Chapel in Covington. She survives. Also surviving are his two daughters, Rebecca (Jeffery) DeZarn of Veedersburg and Nicole Michelle Allen of Covington; Brother Joe Bill (Brenda) Massey of Oakwood, IL; two sisters, LeaAnn (Ron) Morris of Covington and Eryn Massey of Covington; mother-in-law Darene Jones; brother-in-law Brad (Kim) Jones; sister-in-law Rita Jones; four grandchildren, Jacob, Kyle, and Brookelyn DeZarn and Jalyn Allen; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Curt had last worked at Quaker Oats in Danville, but had previously been at Robin Tech in Danville and Wabash Marine in Covington. He enjoyed auto racing, but especially loved Indy cars and visiting the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Curt had served as the Steward, Chief Steward, Financial Secretary, Recording Secretary and President of Bakery, Confectionary, Tobacco Workers’ and Grain Miller International Union Local #347G. He was a past member of the Jaycees, the Moose Lodge of Danville, and the Covington Lion’s Club where he served as Financial Secretary and President. A service to celebrate the life of Curt Massey will be held at 11 AM on Monday, August 11, 2014 at Sunset’s Covington Chapel. Pastor Robert Fairchild will officiate. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 PM on Sunday, August 10, also at Sunset in Covington.
