Lawrence E. “Larry” Jordan

MAHOMET- Lawrence E. “Larry” Jordan, 72 of Mahomet passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2015 at Carle Hospital in Urbana. Larry was born on January 17, 1943 in East St. Louis, the son of William M. and Ruth E. Whitehead Jordan. He married Ferol Jean Klein on June 24, 1961 in Findley, IL. She survives. Also surviving to carry on his legacy are his 3 sons, David Jordan of Mahomet, Bob and wife Lynne Jordan of Champaign, and Kevin Jordan of Chicago; 3 grandsons, Brett Jordan of Sacramento, CA, Corey Jordan of Wichita KS, and Kyle Jordan of Champaign; and 3 sisters, Mary Harter, Donna Jordan, and Geneva Jordan. Preceding Larry in death are his parents and two brothers, Bobby Jordan and Mark Jordan. A Veteran of the United States Air Force, Larry proudly served our country from 1960-1971. After leaving the Air Force, he took on the open road as a professional truck driver for Rexdon’s Trucking in Charleston. Larry was outgoing, talkative, and had never met a stranger. He had a great love for his friends and his family, and loved gatherings and Karaoke. In his younger years, you could find him playing bingo, or dancing to country music. He enjoyed playing pinochle, and he taught all three of his sons how to play. He had a love for big trucks. This loved carried throughout his life. He will be truly missed by all those who knew him. In memory of Larry, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association, or AMVETS Post 3. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 from 2:00pm – 5:00pm at the AMVETS Post 3, 203 West Hill Street, Champaign.
