Jack G. Cole, 72, of Georgetown, passed away at 9:54am, Wednesday, November 19, 2014, at Presence USMC, Danville. He was born on July 12, 1942, in Oakwood, IL, the son of Hallie and Goldie {Crowder} Cole, both deceased. He was united in marriage to Geneva P. Kennedy on March 1, 1972 until her passing on January 23, 2006. He will be dearly missed by: his son, Courtney (Donita) Cole of Sammamish, WA; his daughters, Michaela (David) Borum of Terre Haute, IN, Angela Cole of Georgetown, & Jacqueline (Nicholas) Roberts of Kingman, IN; his significant other, Victoria LaBreck of Georgetown; his seven grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his 11 brothers & sisters. Jack was a proud Veteran of the US Army serving during the Vietnam War. He received the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, & Silver Star. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Material Service Corp. in Fairmount. He was a member of the American Legion Dornblaser Post #203 where he served as Past Commander and held various other leadership positions. He was known to love to tinker around. He enjoyed fishing and camping trips, as well as reading. Jack loved being with his friends and visiting. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. A celebration of Jack’s life will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, November 22, 2014, at Sunset’s Houghton-Leasure Funeral Home, Georgetown, with Pastor James Blue officiating. Visitation will be held 4-8pm. Friday, November 21, 2014, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in Georgetown Cemetery with Military honors conducted by American Legion Dornblaser Post #203. Memorial donations may be given to Illiana VA Voluntary Services.
