SAVOY- Toki O. Ruhl, 91 of Savoy, peacefully passed away on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at Country Health Nursing Home in Gifford, IL. Toki had a life well-lived. She was born on August 26, 1923 in Tokyo, Japan, the daughter of Nobu and Matsuno Ohara. On April 11, 1958 she married the love of her life, Charles Ruhl in Chicago. He survives. Also surviving are her three daughters, Vera (Kelly West) Matsuno West of Ottawa, IL., Rebecca Grace Vance of Savoy, and Berenice Leslie (Jon Erickson) Ruhl of Pefferlaw, Ontario, Canada; seven grandchildren, Jody Matthew McCullough, Richard Charles Miske, Matthew Michael Miske, Daniel James Miske, Andrew Jared West, Rosemary Rebecca Ruhl-Stote, and Lillian Eileen Ruhl-Stote; two great-grandchildren, Asher James Miske and Easton Lucas Miske. She is pre-deceased by her parents and twelve siblings. Toki was a loving wife and mother. She spent a majority of her life doing one of the hardest and most important jobs of all as a homemaker. She had a love for learning, cooking, singing, and bicycling with her husband along Lake Michigan. Toki was an accomplished painter, and she had many water colors around her home that she painted that reflected her talent. Her green thumb allowed her to grow many beautiful flowers in and around her home. She will be most remembered for the love and care she showed for her husband, Charles. Private services will be held. Sunset Funeral Home, 710 N. Neil Street, Champaign, has been entrusted to care for Toki. Please join Toki’s family in sharing videos, photos, and memories of her at www.sunsetfuneralhome.com.
